Broadway in the HOOD (Helping Others Open Doors) is a community-based organization that brings the transformative power of the performing arts into schools. Through innovative theater programs, it provides students with opportunities to explore their creativity, develop confidence, and learn important life skills. By using drama, music, and dance, Broadway in the HOOD inspires students from underserved communities to express themselves, while also teaching teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. With professional mentorship and engaging workshops, the program fosters a love for the arts and helps students unlock their full potential, both on stage and in life.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
Stagecraft Workforce Development - A Program Designed specifically for students with Interests in Technical Theatre. Over the course of the program, students will learn in depth information about the Disciplines of Lighting, Sound Design, Costume Design, Set Building / Set Design, Stage Management , Writing , and Directing. The Workforce members will then form the Technical Team for all BITH productions.
STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES
Student Support Services - This Program is to assist students during their Primary Education Tenure. This includes but not limited to Bi Weekly Grade Checks, Tutoring, Theatre / Technical Theatre Opportunities Needed for School Credits, Internship Credits, and to encapsulate the program , The student would receive a Post Graduate Scholarship* Amount Dependent on Tenure and success in the Program.

Upcoming in our 2024 - 2025 Season, Following the success of the Hit Tour "American Son", BITH will be touring two new Powerful Shows. One Show for Students in Grades Kindergarten - 7th Grade and One Show for Students in Grades 8th - 12th. Shows to be announced later this fall.
CLASSES
BITH is proud to offer Classes in the Disciplines of Vocals, Dance, Acting, and Technical Theatre Led by Our Resident Instructors Vocal Director Shirley Wilson, Choreographer Justin Bryant, and Associate Director Tom Jones. All classes will be presented in Beginner / Intermediate and Advanced options. Classification of classes will be determined at your audition.
