The beauty and power of a myth drawn from the culture of the Caribbean is brought to life in this Tony Award-winning musical. Storytelling, African rhythms and instruments are used to tell the tale as an island girl is rescued from a devastating storm by four gods—Asaka, Mother of the Earth; Agwé, god of Water; Erzulie, goddess of Love; and Papa Ge, Sly demon of Death. So begins a tale that centers on joy and sorrow, life on an isolated island, and the triumph of love against all odds. Presented in partnership with The Rainbow Theatre Company.
